This photograph was capture at 316 Shrewsbury street in Worcester Massachusetts.

The photo represents a fire pump/room. It is the starting install of the fire pump for the wet and dry system. The dry system is the one that is connected to the 4 inch pipe with the valve and drain on the right. The wet system is on the left, we had to take off the manifold and put a butterfly valve under it and then connect it to the 4 inch pipe from above. There is also the FDC that was not piped yet, we later piped the FDC to go outside with a fire department connection valve. We also connected both drains from the wet and dry system and ran it under the FDC to drain out the system when needed.

What I learned from this project was how to install a wet and dry system valve. This was my first fire pump install so I learned how to install the fire pump as well. This was my first time piping an FDC. I didn’t do it alone I did it with help of foremen and another apprentice. I learned how to properly connect the drains, pipe the FDC, pipe the fire pump, install butterfly valves, dry system, and manifold. This was a hard task because all the fire pump fitting where 6 inch pipe and then we had to use a reduced to connect to the 4 inch pipe.
