Cosmetology Courses

Students will learn: Health and Safety, Practical Application in Infection Control, Barbicide Certification, Dress Code and Safety Practices, Positive and Appropriate Behavior that Contributes to a Safe and Healthy Environment, Proper Communication, Shampooing, Conditioning, and Scalp Care, Wet Hair Styling to include roller placement, fingerwaves, pin curl design, Blow Drying, Thermal Hair Styling with a Variety of Irons, Braiding Techniques, and Nail Care-Manicures.

Students will review for proficiency all skills learned in their previous grade.  Additionally students will learn: Methods of Temporary Hair Removal, Facial Treatment, Makeup Application to include: Special FX, Theatrical, and Airbrush, Nail Care-Pedicures, Dip Polish Application, and Nail Art, Hair Shaping, Razor Cutting, Formal Hairstyling, Permanent Waving-Rod Placement, Braiding-Over Hand, Under Hand, Box Braids, and Feed-in Braiding.

Students will review for proficiency all skills learned in their previous grades.  Additionally students will learn: Customer Service and Communication Skills, Effective Client Consultations, Pressing Comb Techniques, Various Hair Removal Services, Application of Artificial Lashes, Artificial Nail Enhancements, Clipper Cutting, Professional Hair Coloring including: Temporary, Semi, Demi, and Permanent Hair Coloring, and Cap and Foil Highlights, Permanent Waving, Chemical Relaxing and Smoothing Techniques, Wigs and Hair Enhancements including: Fashion Hairpieces, Track and Sew Method, Bonding, Fusion, and Beading Methods.

Students will review for proficiency all skills learned in their previous grades.  Additionally students will learn: Communication in the Workplace, Work Ethic and Professionalism, Weaving and Slicing Foil Techniques, Balayage Techniques, Corrective Hair Coloring, Dimensional Hair Coloring, Proper Application of Toners. During their senior year, students will take the Massachusetts Cosmetology State Board Examination and become licensed in this dynamic and exciting field.
