Wigs and Hair Enhancements

Students will be able to perform a client consultation for wigs and hair enhancements and be able to determine the type of need (e.g., hair loss, fashion, photo shoot, theatrical, etc.).  They will measure the client’s head for a custom fit wig and identify materials and implements necessary for procedure.  Students will be able to identify types of wigs (i.e. natural, synthetic, cap, capless), and identify types of enhancement (i.e. fashion hair pieces, track and sew method, bonding method, fusion method).

They will arrange necessary implements and supplies on work area, demonstrate proper draping for service, analyze the client’s hair and scalp, prepare hair for method being used, and record all client information. 

 

Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of wrapping techniques, mount wig in appropriate block size to fit, and secure wig on mount with t-pins at temples, above each ear and each corner of nape.

 

Students will be able to identify various extension techniques and be able to explain bonding techniques, fusing methods, and beading techniques.
