Back to CosmetologyStudents will identify materials and implements needed to perform various haircuts and be able to identify and demonstrate the use of clippers and trimmers then demonstrate safety and handling of all tools. They will explain the importance of anatomy as it relates to hair shaping, recognize reference points on the head and understand their role in haircutting, and explain and demonstrate the importance of neat, uniform partings, sections, and subsections.
Students will be able to explain the importance of guidelines and the various techniques used to achieve a design, differentiate between traveling and stationary guidelines, differentiate between horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines, and explain and describe how different elevations and over direction determine different results.
They will also learn to identify and perform different types of haircuts including: a one length, zero degree blunt haircut, a 45 degree, graduated layered haircut, a 90 degree, uniform layered haircut, a 180 degree, long layered haircut, a basic haircut using a razor, and perform haircutting techniques using clippers.
Lastly, students will be able to discuss and explain different texturizing techniques and be able to explain and demonstrate different techniques used to remove bulk or weight from a design.
